A faithful disciple of St.Ignatius:
Like all Catholic spirituality, the spirituality practiced by the Jesuits, called
Ignatian spirituality, is based on the Catholic faith and the "Spiritual Exercises",
whose purpose is “to conquer oneself and to regulate one’s life in such a way that
no decision is made under the influence of any inordinate attachment”. In other
words, the Exercises are intended to give the exercitant(the person undertaking
them) a greater degree of freedom from his own likes, dislikes, comforts, wants,
needs, drives, appetites and passions that they may choose based solely on what
they discern God’s will is for them. Though it includes many forms of prayer, discernment,
and apostolic service, it is the interior dispositions of attentiveness. It has
a remarkable ‘nowness’, both in its attentiveness to God and in its desire to respond
to what God is asking of the person now. The Ignatian ideal has the following characteristics:
God’s greater glory, Union with jesus, Self-awareness, spiritual direction, effective
love, detachment, prayers, efforts at self-conquest, and refluction, Devotion to
the Secred Heart, the Eucharist, and Our Lady zeal for souls, finding God in all
things, examin of consciousness discernment, and service and humility.
He not only builds up the souls for christ, but the houses for prayer too. The gigantic
assumption church that stands as the land mark of Mehtanagar tells upon his love
for jesus and people. He was the architect who converted the slum into a costly
area.
Every one who is familer with Fr. Casimir will witness that he never deviates from
the jesuit formation and its principles at any point of time and any juncture. His
love for prayer, devotion to duty, affection to Our Lady, simplicity, humility,
etc is undiluted.
He delights in jesus, in his person, his character, his affection. To him jesus
is not only the chief and foremost, but all in all. His heart’s love belongs to him,
and to him only. He’s glad to sink his individuality in His. He seeks no renown
for himself. His smiling gratitude is all the rewards he seeks.
He is a living Ignatius.
